LAGOSk – Two brothers, John Ajayi and Kamaru Ajayi, have been arrested on an allegation of armed robbery.
Two other suspects, Femi Adegbite and Iyiola Johnson were also arrested in connection with a burglary and armed robbery.
They were arrested by the operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris Intelligence Response Team(IRT), led by Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
According to the police, the suspects, currently detained in the cells of IRT in Lagos under the close monitoring of Philip Rieninwa, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and coordinator South-West unit of IRT, Lagos annexe, Ikeja, were accused of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The first case was incidented on 12th June 2018 at Idiroko in Ogun State and the second in July.
Parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Edgal Imohimi said they robbed their victims of Tundra car, jewellery, cash, phones and other valuables.
Following the alleged robbery incidents, the machinery of the IRT was set in motion, leading to the tracking of Femi, the leader of the gang in a hotel at Badagry.
It was revealed that John and Kamaru, the two brothers were identified as indigenes of Republic of Benin and responsible for gun running for the gang.
In his confession, the 29-year-old Femi Adegbite, a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, said he is a trained hairdresser and does the barbing job but resides in Cotonou, Benin Republic
