Oyo Assembly confirms CBN’s Bayo Adelabu, 7 others for Security Trust Fund BoT

Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday screened and confirmed the appointment of Chairman and seven other members of the State Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees.

They include a Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and one of the major governorship aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adebayo Adelabu (Chairman).

Other members include, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeduntan; Dr. Falil Ayo Abina; Engineer Femi Odumabo; Mr. Adesola Adeduntan; High Chief Biodun Kola-Daisi; Mr. Vickramgur Satignety and Mr. Femi Oyedipe who is to serve as Secretary.

At the plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Hon. Michael Adeyemo on Thursday, members of the house insisted that the confirmation of the Chairman and members of the board sent by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state was necessary to allow the board make use of the money ​the ​security trust fund has generated since it was launched.

Oyo State Security Trust Fund was launched during the first tenure of Governor Abiola Ajimobi to provide all the necessary needed assistance in terms of fund, equipment, personnel in a bid to ensure protection of lives and property in the state.

Speaking after their confirmation, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeduntan said that the board whose role is to provide advisory role to the government on security issues has the responsibility to generate money for the procurement of equipment among other things.

He said “We are to play advisory role to the government. We are to source for money for the procurement of vehicles and materials. You know the police need vehicles and other materials.

“As you know, security is second in Oyo State after Health. In Nigeria, Security is number one

As you can see we have been bedevilled with insecurity in Nigeria.

“The board has role to provide the necessary materials for the protection of lives and property in Oyo State.​”​
